who we are
driftspeak is made and sold in the united kingdom by Avdience Ltd, a company registered in england and wales (company number 16471452), registered office 86–90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE. these terms cover the website at driftspeak.com and the driftspeak app, and anything you buy from us on the website. by using either, you agree to them. nothing here takes away your rights under uk consumer law.
what driftspeak is
driftspeak makes volumes: authored audio that drifts through an album or a film a line at a time, in its language and then in yours. each volume is an original work by driftspeak, inspired by the record or film it names. it contains none of the source's audio, and driftspeak is not affiliated with, made with or endorsed by the artists, studios or labels whose work inspires it. their names and titles belong to them and are used only to say what a volume is about.
accounts
you don't need an account to listen to samples or to use the app. to buy on the website you sign in, by email or with apple, so we know whose shelf a purchase belongs to. keep your sign-in to yourself; what you buy is for your own personal listening.
buying on the website
payments on the website are taken by stripe; we never see or store your card. a single volume is £4.99, paid once and yours forever: you keep listening to it for as long as driftspeak runs, with nothing to renew. the whole shelf is £35.99 a year and gives you every volume we've published and every one we publish while it runs. it renews automatically each year at the price shown when you bought it, unless you cancel. cancel any time from your account page; the shelf stays yours to the end of the year you've paid for and does not renew. prices include any vat that applies. if you live outside the uk, stripe may show and charge the price in your own currency.
buying in the app
anything you buy in the app, a volume, the shelf, a concept or a commission, is bought through the app store. apple takes the payment and apple's terms govern it, including apple's standard licence for apps and its rules for subscriptions and refunds. cancel an app store shelf from your apple subscriptions, and ask apple for a refund of anything bought there.
made to order
some volumes are concepts: one chapter to hear for free, the rest made once you order it. concepts and commissions are ordered in the app. order it in the app and it's made for you. ready within a week. we'll tell you when it lands. if we can't make one after all, we tell you and refund it in full.
refunds
if something you bought from us on the website is broken, missing or not what we said it was, email us and we'll put it right or refund you. refunds go back through stripe to the way you paid. a refund of a volume ends your access to that volume, and a full refund of the shelf ends the shelf; a partial refund leaves the shelf running. if you dispute a payment with your bank, access to what it paid for pauses while the dispute is open, and comes back if it closes in our favour.
using driftspeak fairly
listen as much as you like. please don't copy, share, resell, broadcast or publish the audio or the text, don't share an account, and don't try to get around how the site or the app controls access, or scrape or overload them. we may close access for anyone who does, and we'll tell you why.
what's ours
the volumes, their words, their voices, the covers and the design of the site and the app are driftspeak's, or licensed to us. buying a volume gives you a personal licence to listen to it, not ownership of the work itself.
if things change
we may update these terms. the date at the top says when they last changed, and if a change affects a shelf you pay for, we'll tell you before it renews. we work to keep driftspeak running, but we can't promise it will never be unavailable. nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
the law
these terms are governed by the law of england and wales. if you live elsewhere in the uk, you can also bring a claim in your own country's courts.
